Born as a first and only child on june 6th, 1972 in a town called Veenendaal in the center of the Netherlands, Freaking Freek was spoiled to his bones. However, after his parents divorced each other on the very day of his tenth birthday, he never was the same sunshine-in-the-house boy as before. His mum re-married a butcher that Freaking Freek worked for in his teens. His mum and the butcher got two other children that now where spoiled to their bones. His father retreated to a little cabin in a forest and was seldom seen. It was told that he turned into an eccentric artist making sculptures with nothing but dirt. Freaking Freek missed his father much. If we listen closely to his lyrics we can feel the lack of a true father figure in his life as a youngster . At the age of sixteen, when he hadn't heard from his dad since 4 years he left to look for him in the forest and found his cabin empty. No one has ever seen Freaking Freek's father, or heard from him since.

Shortly after this event, Freaking Freek started a punk rock band called "Toasting Fork" together with some school buddies. They wrote their own music, with Freaking Freek on lead guitar. They played together until Freaking Freek left in 1991 to go to college on the other side of the country. He soon formed a new band called the "High Tech Hits". They were quite successful and popular among local students and performed in small bars all over the city.

After dropping out of college in 1993 the music really started to take over Freaking Freek's life. A little bit of track at first, he played in a band called "Willekeurig Geweld" which is Dutch for "Random Violence". They played all sorts of covers. You can imagine that a creative soul as Freaking Freek wasn't very comfortable with copying others. After having ironically renamed the band "Band Over", finally in 1995 Freaking Freek left the band to work on a solo career as Freaking Freek. He has surrounded himself by the best musicians that share his ideas about style and power. He writes his own music and lyrics, and sings with the amazing range of voice that made him famous.
